With warm ash wood frames, olive-khaki canvas seats and backs, and cognac leather sling arms and brass metal detailing. Slender, shaped legs and exposed joinery give the chairs an open, architectural silhouette, softened by the drape of the canvas and loose seat cushions. Buckled leather straps beneath the seats and brass fittings add thoughtful, utilitarian detail. First introduced in 1933, Klint’s Safari chair refined the portable campaign chair into a considered piece of domestic furniture. This pair’s earthy palette and tactile combination of wood, canvas, and leather bring a relaxed warmth to the design. The chairs retain their original fabric "Rud Rasmussen' manufacturer labels and the ash frame is stamped "Made in Denmark." The leather sling arms have been updated since the chair's original manufacturing with American leather, and the leather is stamped "Made in USA" The chairs are in great vintage condition with age related wear. Kaare Klint (1888–1954) was a reknowned Danish architect, furniture designer, and educator widely regarded as a founder of modern Danish design. He studied historical furniture and human proportions, refining familiar forms through careful attention to comfort, function, and craftsmanship. In 1924, he co-founded the furniture school at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, helping shape the principles that defined Danish Modern Vintage condition with wear consistent with age.
