The Rob Mullins Band blasted onto the fusion jazz scene with this album, RED SHOES, in 1982. the music cooks with tight energy. Mullins's inimitable keyboard playing sets the pace, (and a great pace it is!) Ruddy's bass line is one of the most powerful around, and Laura Newman's saxophone literally explodes with wonderful energy. Man, can she play! Drummer John Merola keeps the heart of things cooking with a great beat. It's been 32 years and this music still sounds fresh. Incidentally, according to Mr. Mullins, the title tune (RED SHOES) was one of the first original hip hop instrumentals.
